There are so many beautiful sites to see surrounding Rexburg. Some of nature’s greatest treasures are just within a few hours of Rexburg – no joke. Let’s just name off a few of the “must-sees”.
Yellowstone is one of the most iconic national parks in the U.S. Consider yourself lucky if you live in Rexburg, because an adventure through Yellowstone is just an hour and a half a way for you. Visiting Yellowstone is such an incredible experience, so many wonders. You will most certainly spot some buffalo during your trip and likely a few other animals such as: elk, deer, mountain goats, and possible bears. Beside the wildlife their are the gorgeous sculptures of nature that make up the whole park. The paint pots are so vibrant in color, and the geysers are spectacular. Yellowstone is a must-see for everyone.
St. Anthony Sand Dunes:
Just located twenty minutes outside of Rexburg, this magnificent 10,600 acre playground of white quartz sand is known for great fun. There are great times to be had whether you have a dune buggy or not. Stargazing is one of my favorite things to do there in the summertime. Some clear nights you can even see the milky way. While enjoying the view, you find yourself pretty comfortable laying on the warm sand.
This is a treasure that I found just a year ago. Swan Valley is BEAUTIFUL. Known for the palisades, it’s square ice cream, and Fall Creek Falls you are bound for a great experience when visiting Swan Valley. There is so much to do! It would be hard to fit it all in one day, luckily it’s only a 50 minute drive from Rexburg. What are you waiting for?
If you live in Rexburg and you haven’t hear of Jackson Hole, you live under a rock. Jackson Hole is another beautiful must-see. Definitely a tourist town, if you are into that kind of thing: art galleries, souvenir and candy shops – the whole works. If you aren’t into that so much, no worries, there are still a lot of adventures to be had there. There is skiing in Jackson hole, and one new awesome discovery I recently made was a sleigh ride through their national elk refuge. You literally get to be 10 feet away from thousands of elk. It’s pretty epic, and there aren’t a lot of places in the world that your get to experience something like that, now are there?
Also, my favorite restaurant in Jackson Hole is the Lift, so make sure to stop by while you are in town. You won’t be disappointed.
Grand Teton National Park:
Grand Teton National Park is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Schwabacher’s Landing, Oxbow Bend, the Grand Tetons, Mormon Row Barn – all of these places are worth it for the view. Just located 10 miles south of Yellowstone National Park, you wouldn’t believe that all of these incredible sites are so close together. It’s nice to know that this place is just an hour and 45 minute drive from Rexburg. There’s no excuse for not visiting a paradise like this.
So really, is Rexburg all that bad? Consider it a blessing to be so close to some of the most spectacular views in the world.
